An “illusion neckline” refers to a dress, typically one with a sweetheart strapless neckline, that features a sheer overlay, creating the—you guessed it—illusion of a higher neckline. The coolest part about this style is that it gives your dress unique visual interest, as opposed to beading, ruching, or any other type of texture. Those are all great options, but there’s just something extra romantic about the illusion bodice gown that we can’t quite put our finger on… Illusion neckline dress styles come in many variations, but two of the most common ones feature an overlay that creates either a boatneck (like Priscilla’s dress), or a v-neck.
